Adams, Mahan, Perry Honored by The American

ORLANDO – Three members of the UCF men's basketball team were recognized by the American Athletic Conference on Wednesday, as Darius Perry and Brandon Mahan earned third-team all-conference honors, and Isaiah Adams was named to the all-freshman team.

It marks just the second time that the Knights have put multiple student-athletes on The American's all-conference teams, but it is the ninth time in the program's Division I history that multiple Knights have earned all-conference honors in the same season, dating back to the 1993-94 season.

With two players on the three all-conference teams, only second seeded Houston had more players earn all-conference honors. Top seed Wichita State and fourth seed SMU also matched the Knights with two players on all three teams.

In his first season in Orlando after transferring from Louisville, Perry leads UCF and ranks seventh in the league with 14.6 points per game. He also leads the Knights with 3.4 assists and 1.3 steals per game. His 83.9 percent mark from the free throw line ranks fourth in the conference, and he ranks sixth in both 3-point shooting percentage (38.5) and 3-pointers made (2.4 per game).

Mahan has been efficient in his second season with the Knights, leading the conference with an 89.5 percent mark from the free throw line and ranking second in the league shooting 43.2 percent from 3-point range. He is second on the team and 13th in The American with 12.5 points per game and leads the Knights with 5.1 rebounds per contest.

Adams is the first UCF player to earn all-freshman team honors since B.J. Taylor and Adonys Henriquez did during the 2014-15 season. He's just the sixth Knight to do so in the program's Division I history, joining other honorees Keith Clanton, Marcus Jordan, and A.J. Rompza.

The freshman forward is averaging 9.8 points per game on the season and ranks eighth in the league with a 47.2 percent mark from the floor. He's second on the team and 15th in the AAC with 1.2 steals per contest and was named AAC Freshman of the Week three times.

Perry, Mahan, Adams and the sixth seeded Knights will take on 11th seeded ECU for the third time this season in the first round of the American Athletic Conference Tournament. UCF and ECU are scheduled to tip at 7 p.m. ET/6 p.m. CT with coverage on ESPNU and FM 96.9 The Game.
