Knights Set to Host Tulsa Tuesday Night

ORLANDO – After having its game against Temple canceled four hours prior to tip on Saturday, the UCF men's basketball team looks to get back to action Tuesday night against Tulsa. The Knights and the Golden Hurricane are scheduled to tip off at 7 p.m. with coverage from Addition Financial Arena on ESPNU and FM 96.9 The Game.
 
The Knights (8-11, 6-10) have still won three of their last four games, defeating Tulane on the road back on Feb. 20 and at home on Feb. 12, and taking care of South Florida on Feb. 17. UCF is currently seventh in the American Athletic Conference standings, looking to catch Tulsa, which is just ahead in sixth place.

The Golden Hurricane (10-10, 7-8) have lost four of their last five games, including a defeat at the hands of the Knights back on Feb. 6. Tulsa most recently lost at home to Cincinnati, 70-69. After Tuesday night's game, the Golden Hurricane's final regular season conference game is scheduled for March 7 at SMU. 
 
Tulsa leads the all-time series over UCF, 14-10, but the Knights hold a 9-3 advantage in games played in Orlando. On Feb. 6, UCF earned its first road victory at Tulsa, defeating the Golden Hurricane 65-58. Darius Perry led UCF with 18 points in the victory over Tulsa, while Brandon Mahan chipped in with 15.

Big Three in The American                                  

  • UCF is the only team in the American Athletic Conference with three players in the Top 20 in the league in scoring.
  • In fact, Darius Perry, Brandon Mahan and Darin Green Jr. all rank in the Top 16 in the conference, with Perry leading the way.
  • Perry ranks sixth with 14.7 points per game, Mahan is 12th with 13.0, and Green is 16th at 11.4 points per contest.

More Like C.J. Blocker, amiright?                                                

  • In his first season with the Knights, C.J. Walker leads the team and ranks second in The American with 1.7 blocked shots per game.
  • He has had at least one blocked shot in 16 out of 19 games this season, and has blocked a career-high four shots three times, including in two of the last four games.
  • Walker is also second on the team in rebounding with 5.0 boards per contest.
  • He has scored in double figures in each of the last three games, averaging 14.7 points, 8.3 rebounds and 2.7 blocked shots per game during the stretch.
  • In the win over South Florida on Feb. 17, Walker matched a career high with 18 points.

Won Three of Last Four                           

  • UCF has won three of its last four games, and the Knights are scoring 71.5 points per game - 4.4 more points per game than their season average - and allowing just 66.0 points per game, 4.3 less points than their season average during the stretch.
  • UCF has been more efficient, shooting 46.0 percent from the floor and 43.1 percent from 3-point range, compared to season averages of 42.9 percent and 36.7 percent, respectively.
  • The Knights have also averaged 16.5 assist per game, as compared to their season average of 12.0 per contest. 
  • Darius Perry has led the way during the stretch, averaging 16.3 points per game and shooting 44.1 percent from long distance, but C.J. Walker has really come on during this time, averaging 12.5 points and 7.0 rebounds with 12 blocked shots in the last four games.
