ORLANDO, Fla. – UCF starting pitcher, AJ Jones was named the American Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Week on Monday, the league announced. The Sarasota, Fla. native was a key part of the Knights series victory over No. 1 ranked Ole Miss over the weekend.
After the Knights fell to No. 1 Ole Miss in walk off fashion in the first game of a doubleheader, AJ Jones was tasked with stopping the top-ranked Rebels offense in game two of the day – the rubber game of the series. And Jones delivered – tossing 6.0 IP, striking out 10, allowing just a single run, and earned the win. The grad transfer's win marks his first as a Knight, and clinched UCF the series victory over No. 1 ranked Ole Miss in Oxford.

The Knights will travel to Deland, Fla. to face off with Stetson for the second time in 2021 on Wednesday, March 3. First pitch is set for 6 p.m.
