ORLANDO, Fla. – The UCF men's soccer team will be in action again this weekend as they travel to Tulsa to take on the Golden Hurricane on Saturday at 8 p.m.
The Knights will be looking to come out on top against Tulsa this time around as UCF dropped their season opener to them by a count of 1-0. The Golden Hurricane struck early in that match, tallying the lone goal at the 8:59 mark.
While the Knights aren't out to the best start record wise, the Black and Gold have been creating plenty of chances to score. UCF is 16th in the country in corner kicks per match, averaging 7.67, and 42nd in shot attempts per match with 12.67. Both marks are good enough for first in the conference. The Knights 31st in the nation and second in the conference in shots on goal per match, averaging 6.33 to this point in the season.
The Knights have been just as successful on the road, tallying a 13-3-1 record over their last 17 matches away from home. UCF's last road match was a 1-0 win in the freezing cold against Temple. The weather is expected to be a little better this trip, with a projected match time forecast of 57 degrees with a low chance of precipitation.
Tulsa's only match of the season to this point was against UCF. Their schedule included matches against SMU and Memphis before playing the Knights again but saw both postponed, one due to inclement weather and the other due to COVID-19 issues in an opposing program.
A win would give UCF their 400th victory in program history. The Knights eclipsed their 300th win as a Division I program last season on the road at UConn, where the Black and Gold earned a 2-1 overtime victory.
