GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The Knights made up solid ground in the final day of the Gator Invitational on Saturday, moving up five spots to finish tied for 16th place with a 847(+7) total.
After shooting two over par in the first round, Johnny Travale had a nice day two at the Gator Invitational, shooting four under in round two and three under in round three. He finished the tournament with a 205(-5) score.
Juan Delgado and Clement Charmasson also faired better on Saturday. Delgado shot -5 between rounds two and three to bring his total on the weekend to 213(+3). Meanwhile, after shooting +4 in round two, Charmasson settled in nicely to shoot -2 in the final round, bringing his total to 217(+7).
To round things out, Egor Eroshenko and Max O'Hagan finished the tournament with 218(+8) and 221(+11) totals, respectively.
No. 15 Florida won their home tournament with an 811(-29) score. The Gators were trailed closely by No. 3 Georgia (816, -24), No. 8 Auburn (816, -24) and No. 16 LSU (819, -21).
The original plan was to have the tournament span three days, only playing 18 holes per day for a total of 54 holes over the course of the tournament, but the coaches got together early on Friday morning and decided to play 27 holes on each day so that they could cut out Sunday due to expected rough weather.
The UCF men's golf team will enjoy a nice, month-long break before heading to Myrtle Beach, S.C. for the three-day General Hackler Championship, hosted by Coastal Carolina, from March 14-16.
