| February 13, Noon RV Miami vs. #20 UCF WATCH | LIVE STATS |
ORLANDO, Fla. – The No. 20 UCF women's tennis team is set to square off with Miami at home on Saturday at noon as the Knights face another talented in-state foe. This will be the first time in program history that the Black and Gold will host the Hurricanes.
UCF is on a roll as they've won five straight matches, including two wins over then No. 21 Florida as well as a win over an Old Dominion team that was receiving votes. The Knights collected 25 straight dual match points during that run, setting a new program record, topping the previous best of 19 in 2019.
Miami, who received votes in Wednesday's release of the Oracle/ITA team rankings, come into the match with a 2-1 record, having beat No. 23 Ole Miss and FAU while losing to No. 15 Vanderbilt.
Seven singles players will be ranked for Saturday's match as Miami comes in boasting three individuals in the top-125. No. 2 Estela Perez-Somarriba has made many headlines in her career, including at the USTA National Campus. Perez-Somarriba won the NCAA Singles Championship in 2019 which was hosted at the Knights' home. She is Miami's career singles wins leader with over 140 victories. The other two ranked singles players for the Hurricanes are No. 87 Daevenia Achong and No. 102 Selma Cadar.
This will be just the 10th time these two programs face each other in their histories. It is the first regular season matchup between the teams since 2009 when the Knights fell to the Hurricanes in Miami 6-1. The last time these two teams met was in the 2018 NCAA Tournament where UCF was edged 4-3 by the 16th seeded Hurricanes in the second round. Miami has won the previous nine meetings against the Black and Gold.
