Men's Golf Adds Paul Swindell

ORLANDO – The UCF men's golf team added to its depth on Tuesday as head coach Bryce Wallor announced the addition of Paul Swindell to the roster.

Swindell comes to UCF from Lipscomb University, where he graduated with a degree in Applied Mathematics. He will join the Knights as a senior, but still has two years of eligibility remaining at the collegiate level due to the extra year granted by the NCAA as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.

"We are very excited to have the chance to add Paul to the UCF Golf Family this semester," said Wallor. "What is so impressive about Paul is not only did he graduate with a 3.97 GPA in three and a half years at Lipscomb, but he also carries a World Amateur Golf Ranking of 410. This will make Paul one of the highest World Amateur Ranked players in our program this semester."

In the last calendar year, Swindell has a second place finish at the Orlando International Amateur, a fourth place finish at both the Quail Valley Collegiate Invitational and the Auto Trader Collegiate Classic, and a fifth place finish in the ASUN Championship.

"To me, this demonstrates that not only is Paul a strong student, but he has the golfing pedigree to show that he can play for our team and have an impact on our success."

In 2019-20 with the Bisons, Swindell posted a 70.50 scoring average, which ranked second on the team and the ASUN Conference. He was a unanimous selection to ASUN All-Conference and All-Academic Teams.

In his sophomore year in 2018-19, Swindell played in 17 rounds over six tournaments, compiling a 74.24 scoring average, which was tied for the lowest mark on the team. He was named to the All-Tournament Team at the ASUN Championship after shooting 73-69-74=216 to finish fifth.

Swindell, along with current Knight Johnny Travale, qualified for the 2021 U.S. Amateur, which will take place from August 9-15.

During his time at UCF, Swindell will try and earn a second undergraduate degree in Finance.
