Pair of Knights Named to Preseason All-Conference Team

ORLANDO, Fla. – Colton Gordon and Jack Sinclair brought in the first accolades of the 2021 campaign on Wednesday, with the pair of Knights named to the American Athletic Conference Preseason All-Conference Team.

Gordon, a redshirt-sophomore, was a mainstay in the weekend rotation in 2020 with four starts in his first season at UCF. The six-foot-four lefty posted a 2-0 record with a 2.35 ERA over 23.0 innings of work, the most of any Knights pitcher. Colton Gordon also fanned 24 batters, the second-most on the roster.

Heading into his fourth season with the Knights, Jack Sinclair picked up American Preseason All-Conference honors, as well. Acting as a late-inning reliever, the second-year junior made eight appearances out of the bullpen in 2020, tied for the most for the Black and Gold, while racking up 20 strikeouts in just 13.1 innings of work. Sinclair maintained a 1.35 ERA, only allowing two runs in 2020.

The American preseason poll was also released on Wednesday, with the Knights tabbed to finish second by the league's coaches. East Carolina topped the chart with seven first-place votes, and Tulane received the final first-place vote to take third.

Last season, the Knights finished 15-3 and ranked as high as No. 12 in the nation by D1Baseball.com, USA Today, Perfect Game, and Collegiate Baseball Newspaper, who just ranked UCF No. 32 in their 2021 preseason poll.
