ORLANDO – Following wins over 15th-ranked Florida State and Cincinnati, the UCF men's basketball team's previously scheduled game on Dec. 26 against 6th-ranked Houston has been moved to 1 p.m. and will be broadcast on ABC.
Saturday will mark the first time in the history of the American Athletic Conference that a game will air on ABC. College basketball at large returned to ABC in 2019 after a long hiatus from the network.
Houston will come to Orlando ranked sixth and seventh in the national polls and 6-0 on the season. The Cougars have wins over Texas Tech, South Carolina, and most recently defeated Temple in their AAC opener.
The Knights have been impressive to start the 2020-21 season, winning three out of four games with victories over Florida State, Cincinnati, and Auburn. UCF was receiving votes in both national polls this past Monday for the first time since the 2018-19 NCAA Tournament run.
Houston, at sixth in the nation, will be the highest ranked team to visit Addition Financial Arena, replacing the previous high of seventh when both seventh-ranked Cincinnati and seventh-rated Louisville visited in 2014.
When UCF knocked off Houston at Houston in 2019, the Cougars were also ranked sixth in the nation. That road win propelled the Knights to an eventual at-large berth to the 2019 NCAA Tournament.
Saturday's matchup will tip off at 1 p.m. on ABC with radio coverage on FM 96.9 The Game.
