Mahan, Adams Earn AAC Weekly Honors

ORLANDO – The UCF men's basketball team went on the road and defeated 15th-ranked Florida State on Saturday. On Monday, senior Brandon Mahan and freshman Isaiah Adams were named the American Athletic Conference player and freshman of the week, respectively.

It marks the first weekly honor from The American for both Mahan and Adams, and Mahan becomes the first Knight to be named AAC Player of the Week since Tacko Fall on March 4, 2019. Adams is the seventh Knight rookie to earn the honors and the first since Darin Green Jr. last season.

Mahan scored a career-high 32 points in the win over the Seminoles, going 10-for-13 from the field and a perfect 10-for-10 from the free throw line. The senior is still perfect from the strip on the season, making all 19 of his attempts.

Adams also scored a career-high, totaling 22 points in his third collegiate game. He went 9-of-12 from the free throw line and added career-bests of eight rebounds and three steals. He currently leads The American with 2.3 steals per game.

The Knights will be back in action on Tuesday. UCF hosts Cincinnati in its American Athletic Conference opener. Tipoff is scheduled for 4 p.m. from Addition Financial Arena with coverage on ESPN+ and FM 96.9 The Game.
