ORLANDO – The UCF football team went on the road and defeated Houston 44-21 in an American Athletic Conference contest on Saturday. On Monday, The American named sophomore kicker Daniel Obarski its Special Teams Player of the Week for the second time during the 2020 season.
Obarski connected on a trio of field goals to help propel the Knights (4-2, 3-2) to the victory over the Cougars. He hit from 34 yards, 24 yards and 38 yards, all in the first half, to give UCF a 23-7 advantage at the break.
It marks the second time he has won the award this season, also receiving the accolades after three field goals in a win at ECU early in the year.
Obarski ranks third among all kickers in the league with 9.0 points per game is tied for third in the conference making 1.33 field goals per contest. He is 8-for-12 on the season and made 30 of 32 extra point attempts.
Sophomore quarterback Dillon Gabriel was also honored this week as a member of The American's Weekly Honor Roll. Gabriel threw for 328 yards and two touchdowns with no interceptions in the win at Houston.
Gabriel continues to lead the nation in passing touchdowns (21), passing yards per game (417.7) and total offense per game (437.0).
Obarski, Gabriel, and the Knights will be off this weekend before returning to the Bounce House on Nov. 14. UCF hosts Temple in American Athletic Conference action in the first of back-to-back home games.
