Men's Hoops Announces Challenging Non-Conference Schedule

ORLANDO – It will be the latest start to the UCF men's basketball season since 1994, but the 2020-21 campaign finally has an official start date. The Knights will host Oklahoma at Addition Financial Arena on Nov. 28 as part of a four-game non-conference schedule that also includes Auburn, Michigan, and Florida State.

It is an impressive non-conference slate. The Knights, who went 16-14 a year ago before the season was cut short due to COVID-19, will welcome Oklahoma to Orlando for the season opener after falling to the Sooners at the buzzer early last season in Norman.

Oklahoma went 19-12 in 2019-20, which included that 53-52 victory over the Knights on Dec. 21. The Sooners had wins over West Virginia, Texas Tech, Iowa State, Oklahoma State and Texas before the Big 12 Tournament was canceled before it began.

After the matchup with Oklahoma, UCF will play host to Auburn on Nov. 30 in the front end of a home-and-home series. It marks the sixth meeting between the Knights and the Tigers, the fourth in Orlando and the first since UCF defeated Auburn 84-74 back on Nov. 20, 2009.

The Tigers went 25-6 a season ago after reaching the Final Four in 2018-19. Auburn had wins over Kentucky, Arkansas, Ole Miss, Mississippi State, Alabama, and LSU before the SEC Championship was canceled.

UCF will play a pair of road non-conference games in 2020-21, beginning with a trip to Michigan for the start of a home-and-home series with the Wolverines on Dec. 6. It will be the first meeting between UCF and Michigan in the history of the two programs.

The Wolverines went 19-12 last season with early season wins over No. 6 North Carolina and No. 8 Gonzaga. They also defeated Purdue, Michigan State, Indiana, and Rutgers before the Big Ten Tournament was canceled.

The final non-conference game of the 2020-21 season for UCF will be on the road at in-state foe Florida State on Dec. 19. The Knights and the Seminoles will do battle for the 12th time, but it will mark the first time since 2014. Florida State has won all 11 previous games between the two teams.

The Seminoles went 26-5 in 2019-20 and won the ACC regular season championship with a league record of 16-4. Florida State won games over Louisville, North Carolina, Virginia, Notre Dame, Clemson, and Florida, before the ACC Championship was canceled due to COVID-19.

For games played at Addition Financial Arena, there will be 25 percent capacity and masks will be required at all times other than when actively eating or drinking.

Ticket information will be available soon.
