Just yesterday, UCF celebrated the 20th anniversary of one of the program's most notable victories, when the Knights rolled into Tuscaloosa and stunned Alabama on Homecoming.
And now, after a 15-year hiatus, the combo from that historic game is making its return to the field.
UCF will be breaking out Gold/White/Gold for this weekend's road trip to Houston. This was one of the Knights' signature combos for much of the team's early history and has seen quite some mileage on the field. But it has never looked as good as it does now.
UCF's current uniforms allow for a truly modern take on this classic look. With a sharper shade of gold and the sleek white Pegasus jersey, with its own hints of gold to tie the combo together, this uniform instantly elevates itself as one of the best road looks we have seen from the Knights in recent years. And that's saying something.
It's also just another example of how versatile UCF's current uniform set is. Saturday's matchup will mark the third straight game that the Knights have worn a brand new combo. That's something that would be virtually impossible for almost any team in Year Five of its current uniforms. But for UCF, it's just another Saturday.
The Knights last sported Gold/White/Gold against South Florida on Sept. 17, 2005 and the program has seen some remarkable changes since those uniforms were put away. In the decade and a half since, UCF has been to 11 bowls, finished in the AP Top 25 five times, won six conference championships and been to three BCS/New Year's Six Bowls.
It's only right that this historic combo, that was worn through the many ups and downs of a program just finding its footing, finally sees the field again as the Knights reign as one of the most successful teams in college football.
