Gabriel Earns Third AAC Player of the Week Award

ORLANDO – While the UCF football team dropped a tough road game at Memphis over the weekend, it didn't stop the American Athletic Conference from recognizing the play of Dillon Gabriel, who was named the league's co-offensive player of the week on Monday.

The freshman set a trio of UCF records on Saturday, achieving the most passing yards in a game in program history (601), the most yards of total offense in a game (650) and the longest pass play, a 93-yard touchdown to Ryan O'Keefe.

Gabriel finished 35-of-49, threw five touchdowns, and rushed for another while running for 49 yards on the ground.

It marks the third time this season that Gabriel has earned player of the week honors from the AAC and the fourth time in his young career.

Gabriel was also named to the Davey O'Brien Award Great 8 list and was a Manning Award Star of the Week on Monday.

The left-hander now leads the nation in passing yards per game with 439.0 per contest and total offense per game with 466.0 yards per outing. His 14 passing touchdowns rank third in the nation.

Among the other honorees from the league was UCF sophomore Jaylon Robinson, who was named to the conference honor roll for his performance on Saturday. Robinson caught 10 passes from Gabriel for 173 yards and two touchdowns.

Robinson has now gone over 100 yards receiving in all four games this season and he ranks sixth in the nation with 134.8 receiving yards per game.

Gabriel, Robinson, and the Knights will be back in action on Saturday as they host Tulane. Kickoff is scheduled for 2 p.m. from the Bounce House.
