ATLANTA – The ASUN Conference announced the Women's Track and Field 2001-10 All-Decade Team on Friday, and a trio of former Knights are among the 32 honorees.
During the decade, LesSundra Ford, Tiffany Roebuck and Sonja Shedden helped UCF to five outdoor ASUN championships.
Ford holds the distinction of being the first student-athlete to represent UCF at the NCAA Outdoor Championship. In 2004, she finished tied for 20th-place in the high jump.
After sweeping the discus, hammer throw and shot put at the 2005 ASUN Outdoor Championship, Roebuck was named the Championship MVP. She also won the hammer throw in 2004 and earned the gold medal in the shot put at the 2002 Outdoor Championship.
A three-time gold medalist at the ASUN Outdoor Championship, Shedden earned victories in 10,000-meter during the 1999, 2001 and 2003 Championships. She is one of three student-athletes to win the event at least three times. She also earned the seventh-best ASUN Championship finish in the 3,000-meter in 2001 (10:22.76).
To be named to the All-Decade Team individuals must have competed for at least two years in the decade as an ASUN student-athlete, with the exception for NCAA All-Americans. Individuals that obtained one of the following criteria were named to the team: three First Team All-Conference selections in single event (individual only), five total First Team All-Conference selections (including relays), multiple superlative award winner or NCAA Championship individual participant.
