ORLANDO – The Walter Camp Football Foundation announced the Football Bowl Subdivision National Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week, presented by Generation UCAN, on Sunday, and UCF sophomore quarterback Dillon Gabriel was honored for his play in the Knights' win at Georgia Tech.
This is the 17th year that the Walter Camp Football Foundation will honor one offensive and one defensive player as its national Football Bowl Subdivision player of the week during the regular season. Recipients are selected by a panel of national media members and administered by the Foundation.
Gabriel had a career day as UCF defeated Georgia Tech 49-21 in Atlanta. The lefty went 27-of-41 with a career high 417 yards and four touchdowns, just the fifth Knight in program history to throw for over 400 yards and four scores in a game.
This also marks the fifth time that a UCF player has been named a Walter Camp Player of the Week, including Gabriel last season after the Knights' win over Stanford. The other three were McKenzie Milton (2017 and 2018) and Terrance Plummer (2014).
