NCAA Announces Initial Timeline for Spring Volleyball

Opens in a new window NCAA Release

ORLANDO – The NCAA announced on Wednesday the timeline for volleyball and NCAA Championships to be played in spring of 2021. The recommendations now go to the Division I Board of Directors for approval.

"All we want to do is get out on the court and play our game. It's going to be like the old days of volleyball where you just lace up and play a match," said head coach Todd Dagenais. "We are happy to have the opportunity soon to get back on the floor, to be able to play for a conference championship and a spot in the NCAA Tournament."

The finals site of the championship is scheduled for April 23-25, with a 48-team bracket. Thirty-two of the teams will be automatic qualifiers, with 16 at-large selections. The normal bracket size for the championship is 64 teams.

Regular-season play will span from Jan. 22-April 3, with selections April 4.

"I'm very proud of how the team has handled this situation, especially with all of the uncertainty. Like everybody else, they are excited at the chance to get back on the floor and play the game they love."
