ATLANTA – The ASUN Conference announced their Men's Soccer All-Decade Team for the years of 2000-09 early Friday morning. The UCF men's soccer team had three alumni on the team which helped the Knights to three consecutive conference titles and an NCAA Tournament victory, making them just one of three ASUN teams to reach the Second Round during the decade. UCF was a part of the ASUN from 1993-2004.
Eric Vasquez, UCF (2001-03)
Vasquez, a member of UCF's 2002 and 2003 ASUN Championship squads, earned a pair of First Team All-Conference honors (2002-03) in his career. He also was named the 2002 Tournament MVP while also earning a spot on the 2003 All-Tournament Team. Vasquez was a member of the Knights teams that also captured the 2003 Regular Season trophy.
Ryan McIntosh, UCF (2002-04)
A two-time Defensive Player of the Year (2003-04), McIntosh led UCF to three consecutive ASUN Championship titles (2002-04) and two Regular Season crowns (2003-04). He earned three All-Conference selections and was a two-time All-Tournament Team member (2002-03) during his time with the Knights. In the ASUN career record book, McIntosh is ninth in GAA (1.22), 14th in saves (287) and 16th in shutouts (11). McIntosh had one more season wearing the Black and Gold after UCF's departure from the ASUN in 2005 and cemented his legacy as a Knight that season.
Tim Sobczak, UCF/FAU (2001-04)
Sobczak, who won the ASUN's Freshman of the Year honor in 2001 with FAU, played on three consecutive ASUN Championship title teams from 2002-04 after transferring to UCF. He earned three All-Conference awards, two on the Second Team (2001, 2003) and one First Team honor (2004), while also being a member of UCF's 2003 and 2004 ASUN Regular Season title squads.
To be named to the All-Decade Team an individual must have competed for at least two years in the decade as an ASUN student-athlete. Individuals that obtained one of the following criteria were named to the team: three First Team All-Conference selections, four All-Conference selections, multiple Player of the Year honors, ASUN Hall of Famer. Individuals that obtained at least two of the following criteria were also named to the team: Player/Freshman/Defensive Player/Goalkeeper of the Year, three All-Conference selections, two First Team All-Conference selections.
