ORLANDO (UCFKnights.com) – UCF women's soccer alumna Konya Plummer has been nominated for the 2020 NCAA Woman of the Year award.

Rooted in Title IX, the NCAA Woman of the Year Award was established in 1991 to recognize graduating female student-athletes who have exhausted their eligibility and distinguished themselves in academics, athletics, service and leadership throughout their collegiate careers.

The St. Mary, Jamaica native was named First Team All-South Region following her senior campaign. A first team all-conference pick, Plummer was also named the 2019 American Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Year.

In her two seasons with the Knights, Plummer appeared in 25 matches and scored one goal. She started 16 of 17 regular season matches last season and anchored a UCF back line that allowed just seven goals on the year.

The No. 10 overall pick of the 2020 NWSL College Draft, Plummer became the first Jamaican-born player drafted in NWSL history.

Plummer is one of 10 American Athletic Conference candidates in consideration for the honor. She is in the running with a record 605 female college athletes representing multiple sports. The nominees represent all three NCAA divisions, including 259 nominees from Division I, 126 from Division II and 220 from Division III. Nominees competed in 24 sports, with multisport student-athletes accounting for 128 of the nominees.

From here, The American will select up to two nominees to continue on in the award selection process. The Woman of the Year selection committee will then choose the Top 30 honorees — 10 from each division. The selection committee will determine the top three honorees from each division and announce the nine finalists. The NCAA Committee on Women's Athletics will then choose the 2020 NCAA Woman of the Year, who will be named this fall.
