ORLANDO – Former UCF forward Shaheed Davis has been added to War Tampa's roster for the seventh edition of The Basketball Tournament this week.
The 24-team single elimination tournament is scheduled to take place in Columbus, Ohio from July 4-14 with the winning team taking home the $1 million prize.
Davis joins former UCF teammates A.J. Davis and Chad Brown – who are on Playing for Jimmy V – as participants in this year's tournament.
Since his last season with the Knights, 2015-16, Davis has played professionally in England, Bulgaria, Macedonia, Ukraine, Italy and most recently Japan.
In 2018 he led BC Cherkaski Mavpy to the Ukrainian Basketball SuperLeague championship and was named a league all-star.
The 2019-20 season was his first in Japan, leading the Fukushima Firebonds of the BJ League – Japan's top professional basketball league – with 22.4 points, 11.9 rebounds and 3.9 assists per game, while shooting 52 percent from the field.
Davis recently re-signed with the Firebonds for the 2020-21 season.
The 17th seeded War Tampa team will open up action on July 4 against House of 'Paign, an Illinois alumni team. Davis's squad is made up of a number of former Auburn players as well as those with ties to Florida.
All games will be played at Nationwide Arena and will be televised on either ESPN or ESPN2.
