ORLANDO – The seventh edition of the TBT – or The Basketball Tournament – is scheduled to take place in Columbus, Ohio from July 4-14 with the winning team taking home the $1 million prize. This year two former Knights will be participating, as Chad Brown and A.J. Davis have joined team Playing for Jimmy V, which is obviously playing for the V Foundation.

"It is definitely great for me personally to play with Jimmy V because of what it stands for," Brown says. "I have had family members pass away from cancer, so it is definitely personal for me."

Brown was originally set to play with team Florida TNT but joined Jimmy V after TNT failed to make the 24-team tournament. Playing in the NBA G League this past season, Brown will join his teammate with the Texas Legends, Josh Perkins, on the Jimmy V squad.

Davis, who has recently played professionally in the Dominican Republic and Nicaragua, also played in the NBA G League and will join former Delaware Blue Coats teammate Haywood Smith on team Jimmy V.

"It's definitely a bonus to play for a great cause," Davis adds. "At UCF Coach Dawkins did a great job at making us understand that there is so much more to play for than just ourselves."

Both Brown and Davis were members of Dawkins' first UCF team that reached the National Invitation Tournament semifinals at Madison Square Garden. Brown was also on the 2018-19 Knights squad that earned the program's first at-large berth to the NCAA Tournament and first NCAA Tournament victory, a first-round triumph over VCU.

The two for UCF forwards will head up to Columbus this weekend to begin practicing with their new teammates and prepare for their first-round matchup on July 5 against Herd That, a team of former Marshall players.

All games will be played at Nationwide Arena and will be televised on the ESPN family of networks.

Every team in The Basketball Tournament has the option to play for a charity and donate a percentage of its winnings to that organization. The V Foundation for Cancer Research was founded by ESPN and legendary basketball coach Jim Valvano with one goal in mind: to achieve Victory Over Cancer®.
