ORLANDO – UCF Volleyball Director of Operations T.J. Read will serve as the Technical Coordinator for the USA Volleyball Women's Junior National Training Team (WJNT) as the organization announced its full 2020 WJNT training roster on Wednesday.
Read, who will be entering his third season with the Knights in 2020, is no stranger to USA Volleyball. Since joining the Knights in July of 2018, Read has served as a DataVolley Inputter at Team USA tryouts over the past two years.
Under the role of Technical Coordinator, Read will be responsible for assisting the coaching staff with analytics and other technical operations in addition to helping with other day-to-day operations of the program.
In 2019, Read helped the Knights win the inaugural American Athletic Conference Championship tournament. The Knights finished the season 25-8 overall and 14-2 in conference play and UCF reached the second round of the NCAA tournament for the first time since 2003. With Read on staff over the past two seasons, the Knights have posted a 52-12, 32-2 record.
The U.S. was scheduled to compete in the NORCECA Women's U20 Continental Championship May 10-17 in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. The NORCECA event is a qualifier to the 2021 FIVB Women's U20 World Championship. However, the COVID-19 pandemic prompted the NORCECA event to be postponed without it being rescheduled to date. The WJNTT training period was set for July 4-10 in Colorado Springs, but the continuing impact of COVID-19 has prompted it to be canceled.
When the NORCECA Women's U20 Continental Championship is rescheduled, the Team USA competition roster will come from the WJNTT roster.
