ORLANDO (UCFKnights.com) – The UCF women's soccer program received a prestigious NCAA Academic Progress Rate (APR) Public Recognition Award, as the NCAA announced those honors today as part of the NCAA Division I Academic Performance Program.
A team must have posted multi-year APR scores in the top 10 percent of all squads in each sport to be recognized. UCF now has earned at least two awards in seven of the last eight years the awards have been presented.
It's the first public recognition award won by the UCF women's soccer program. The Knights achieved a multi-year rate of 1,000 covering the ongoing eligibility of 109 student-athletes during that period.
The Knights in 2019 finished 11-4-4 overall under head coach Tiffany Roberts Sahaydak, including
5-2-2 for third place in the American Athletic Conference.
Each year, the NCAA honors selected NCAA Division I sports teams by publicly recognizing their latest multiyear NCAA Division I APR. This announcement is part of the overall Division I academic reform effort and is intended to highlight teams that demonstrate a commitment to academic progress and retention of student-athletes by achieving the top APRs within their respective sports.
The APR provides a real-time look at a team's academic success each semester by tracking the academic progress of each student-athlete on scholarship. The current multi-year APR includes the last four reporting periods through 2018-19. The APR accounts for eligibility, retention and graduation and provides a measure of each team's academic performance. Multiyear APRs for all Division I sports teams will be announced May 19 by the NCAA.
Here are the years in which individual UCF sports have received NCAA APR Public Recognition Awards: Women's Tennis (8)—2019, 2018, 2017, 2016, 2015, 2014, 2013, 2012; Volleyball (5)—2018, 2016, 2015, 2014, 2013; Football (3)—2019, 2017, 2016; Men's Golf (1)—2018; Women's Soccer (1)—2019.
