ORLANDO - UCF Men's Golf sophomore Johnny Travale has been named a Division I PING Southeast All-Region honoree by the Golf Coaches Association of America.
Typically announced in May, the GCAA announced the 2020 accolades early with the cancelation of the NCAA Golf Championships due to COVID-19.
The honor caps a tremendous season for the first-year Knight and Travale is the first Knight to be named to an All-Region team since Greg Eason and Ricardo Gouveia both did it in the 2013-2014 season.
Travale's crowning achievement from the 2019-20 season was winning first place at the Knights' home tournament Tavistock Collegiate Invitational back in October, where he shot 204(-12) to beat out 74 of some of the best collegiate golfers in the world. His 204-shot total is the fifth best 54-hole mark in program history, and he became the first Knight to win the individual title at Tavistock and helped lead UCF to its first championship at the event as well.
Over the course of the 2019-20 season, Travale finished in the top 10 at four of the Knights' seven events. He posted 10 rounds under par and seven with shot totals in the 60's. He finished the year with an average stroke total of just 71.86.
Additionally, new UCF transfer Max O'Hagan was named a Division II South All-Region honoree on Tuesday after his incredible year with the Florida Tech Panthers. It is the third straight year he has received the award. You can read that full release here.
