UCF Volleyball junior Faby Ribas took some time to reflect on this past season and answer some questions about what she is up to today. Hear what the hometown student-athlete had to say below:
What was your favorite memory from this past season?
My favorite memory from this past season was competing in the NCAA tournament. This was my third collegiate season and it was my first time participating. The physical and mental preparation was a motivating and exciting challenge, knowing that we were competing against the best teams in the country. The most memorable part of this experience was the accomplishments that we made in the tournament and all the love and support that we received from UCF athletics, UCF fans, families, friends, and my past club and high school team. It feels so special to be a part of the school that everyone supported growing up in Orlando.
What game did you think was the best all-around performance from the team last season?
The game that I think was the best all-around performance from the team last season was definitely our conference championship match against Cincinnati. After coming short with them twice during the regular season, it kindled a fire within everyone, which played a huge role in the game that mattered the most. Our preparation, determination, teamwork and the electric atmosphere of the gym earned us our conference championship title.

What is some advice you have for the incoming class?
Advice I would give to the incoming class is that organization and time management are key in being a student-athlete. One tip that I would give is to keep a planner and fill it out with the due dates of assignments, quizzes, and tests and also include practice, lifting, and tutoring schedules for the week. This will keep you organized and it creates a weekly routine. College is an exciting change but it comes with a lot of responsibilities. If you have any doubts or need advice, ask a teammate for guidance.
What sort of tips do you have for keeping up with classwork from home?
To keep up with classwork from home, I would also advise you to fill out a weekly planner to keep yourself organized and to not miss any due dates. I currently use a small whiteboard and write out the assignments I have due for the week and cross them out as I complete them. I would also advise working a day or two ahead of time in case you experience technical difficulties with assignments.
What are your expectations for the team in 2020?
My expectation for the team in 2020 is to want more than the accomplishments we earned in the previous season. I am excited to have new additions to our team and I can't wait to be back in the gym for one final season!
