No. 14 UCF Wins Five in a Row

ORLANDO, Fla. – The No. 14 Knights made it five wins in a row on Saturday night as they clinched the series victory against Butler in a 4-0 ballgame. The victory marked the fifth win in a row for the Black and Gold, and the fourth series victory in a row to begin the 2020 campaign.

UCF struggled to get the bats going the first time through the batting order, but Ben McCabe got the Knights on the board in the fifth inning. McCabe lined a shot over the Butler right fielder with two on, scoring both runners and giving UCF a lead it wouldn't relinquish.

Jordan Rathbone tacked on an insurance run in the sixth, driving in leadoff man Gephry Pena on a one out double, his fourth of the year. The Black and Gold picked up another run in the eighth to extend the lead to four on a Connor Allen single.

Maintaining dominance on the mound, the UCF pitching staff tossed their third shutout of the season. Trevor Holloway got the starting nod and would fan a career high 10 batters on his way to throwing 6.2 innings without allowing a run.
