No. 14 UCF Continues Homestand Against Butler

ORLANDO, Fla. – With the Knights climbing as high as No. 14 in the national polls this week, the UCF baseball team is set to continue the 2020 campaign at home against Butler this weekend. Start times are set for 6 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, and 1 p.m. on Sunday.

The No. 14 Knights sit at 12-2 on the season and have won three straight weekend series to start the season. Bulldogs will head to Orlando with a 7-3 record after defeating University of Saint Francis 22-4 in Indianapolis, Ind. on Tuesday.

THE WEEKEND ROTATION
UCF will send out a familiar rotation to the mound against Butler, starting with Colton Gordon on Friday, Trevor Holloway again in Saturday's contest, with Joe Sheridan returning as the Sunday starter.

NOTES

  • The Knights and Butler have played twice in the history of the two programs, with UCF winning both contests in 1993.
  • As a pitching staff, UCF comes into the three-game series with a 2.43 ERA, and average 1.23 strikeouts per inning.
  • As a team, the Knights come in at 17th in the nation in home runs after hammering 15 homers in 14 games in 2020.
  • UCF has five batters (with 35+ at-bats) that are hitting .300 or above, led by Pablo Ruiz hitting a .351 clip. Most recently, Ruiz went 2-4 with a couple homers on Tuesday against Jacksonville.

  • For the second week in a row, the Knights have received national attention in the polls, being ranked in all six of the major polls.
  • D1baseball.com has UCF at No.14, the highest rank out of the six major national polls.
  • The USA Today Coaches Poll and Collegiate Baseball Newspaper both tabbed the Knights at No. 15.
  • Baseball America and Perfect Game each had the Black and Gold listed at No. 19 in their week three polls.

PROMOTIONS

  • For the second time this season, Saturday's contest will feature a Beer Garden located on the third base deck behind the visiting team's dugout.
  • The Citronaut drink (Fanta and ice cream) will be making a return to John Euliano Park on Saturdays all season long after its debut in 2019.
  • Introduced last season, UCF will expand on Knightro's Kid Zone located on the third base deck behind the visiting team's dugout.
  • Sunday Runday – UCF welcomes young Knights' fans to run the bases after the game on Sunday.
