Decamps, Grassi Mazzuchi Named Players of the Week

ORLANDO, Fla. – Gabriel Decamps and Juan Pablo Grassi Mazzuchi have been a rock for the UCF men's tennis team all season. After solid performances from them both, they have been named the American Athletic Conference's Players of the Week.

Both Decamps and Grassi Mazzuchi went 2-0 in singles at the No. 1 and No. 2 spots respectively. Grassi Mazzuchi picked up a ranked win on Saturday against FAU's No. 114 Maxime Lapraille.

In doubles, Decamps and Grassi Mazzuchi have been virtually unstoppable. They have posted a 7-1 record to this point during the dual match season. This weekend was the first time the pair has gotten to play at the top spot in doubles and they didn't disappoint. They beat FAU's top pair 6-2 and went on to sweep Stetson's top tandem 6-0.

Since playing doubles together in the 2019 dual match season, Decamps and Grassi Mazzuchi have posted a record of 26-10. The duo won eight straight matches to finish out last season and are currently on a five-match win streak.

Decamps and Grassi Mazzuchi have been the only two players to win player of the week honors so far this season. This week marks the third time this season that Decamps has won the award and the second time that Grassi Mazzuchi has gotten the nod in 2020.
