No. 14 Knights Set for Second Midweek Game at Home

ORLANDO, Fla. – After a 4-1 week, the Knights are back at John Euliano Park on host the Jacksonville University Dolphins for the second mid-week contest at home. First pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m. on Tuesday evening.

NOTES

  • The Knights history with Jacksonville dates back to 1972 when the two programs met for the first time. UCF currently leads the all-time series sitting at 46-39.
  • Jaylyn Whitehead is coming off of a week that saw him pick up a win and a save in two appearances for the Knights. The redshirt-senior allowed just one hit and no runs in 8.0 innings of work with 10 strikeouts.
  • In five games last week, Gephry Pena hit .500 at the plate with three doubles. Pena scored seven times himself over the week, driving in five RBIs. He also went 3-for-3 on stolen bases, bringing his season total to nine

  • For the second week in a row, the Knights have received national attention in the polls, being ranked in all six of the major polls.
  • D1baseball.com has UCF at No.14, the highest rank out of the six major national polls.
  • The USA Today Coaches Poll and Collegiate Baseball Newspaper both tabbed the Knights at No. 15.
  • Baseball America and Perfect Game each had the Black and Gold listed at No. 19 in their week three polls.
