No. 12 UCF Drops Midweek Decision to No. 5 Miami

ORLANDO, Fla. – A top-15 matchup at John Euliano Park is what it took to snap the No. 12 Knights six-game win streak, as they fall to No. 5 Miami in a 3-2 loss on Wednesday night.

The Hurricanes struck first in the top of the first frame as Alex Toral followed a two-out walk with an RBI double. Starting pitcher Jaylyn Whitehead would settle in and go 2.2 innings total innings and allowed just the one run.

Miami pounced on Jack Sinclair when he entered the game. The Hurricanes took a walk, then Raymond Gil belted a two-run home run to give the hurricanes a 3-run lead.

Noah Orlando doubled to start the Knights seventh inning and was later brought around to score after back to back groundouts to put UCF on the board for the first time in the contest.

The Black and Gold closed the deficit further in the bottom of the eighth when Nick Romano drove in Trent Taylor, who was pinch running for Ben McCabe. UCF was unable to cut the gap any further, as Miami retired three straight batters in the bottom of the ninth.
