Knights Earn Three Podium Finishes At The American Championship

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (UCFKnights.com) – The UCF track and field team collected a trio of podium finishes to close out the American Athletic Conference Indoor Championship at the Birmingham CrossPlex on Saturday.
 
Shian Hyde stepped on the podium three times, earning a pair of third place finishes in in the 60-meter dash and 200-meter dash. She also ran the third leg of UCF's second-place 4x4 relay.
 
Hyde matched her personal best 7.38 to repeat as the bronze medalist in the 60m. She also repeated as the bronze medalist in the 200m with a 23.56.
 
Loren Gallmon, Samieryah Bradwell, Hyde and Latasha Smith turned in UCF's best 4x4 finish at The American Indoor Championship since 2016. The quartet used a 3:41.58 time to collect silver medals.
 
The Knights racked up points in the sprints. Ciara Holback and Imani Clark finished seventh and eighth, respectively, in the 60m to add nine points to UCF team score. Holback came in just behind Hyde at 23.61 for fourth place in the 200m. Clark used a personal best 23.69 to finish fifth overall. The trio picked up 15 points for the team score in the 200m.
 
UCF added nine points in the 800-meter run. Charlotte Crook just missed the podium but finished in  2:11.64 for fourth overall. Katie Pinnell finished just behind her in 2:13.56.
 
The outstanding rookie season for Rayniah Jones continued as she set another personal best 8.38 in the 60-meter hurdles. She added five points to UCF's team total with a fourth place finish at her first indoor championship.
 
Samieryah Bradwell improved her 400-meter dash time yet again, finishing seventh in 55.11. In the triple jump, Kiara Lee picked up a point for the Black and Gold as her 39-3.75/12.24m put her eighth.
 
UCF finished with 52 points, putting them eighth in the team standings. The Knights added three points to UCF's War on I-4 total as they finished three spots higher than South Florida. UCF now leads the rivalry series 36-9.
