Knights Set for Pair of In-State Showdowns

ORLANDO, Fla.- The UCF men's tennis team will be back in action as they take on the FAU Owls and the Stetson Hatters at the UCF Collegiate Tennis Center at the USTA National Campus. The Knights will be playing FAU at 2 p.m. on Feb. 29 and Stetson at 11 a.m. on March 1.

UCF collected a victory against Illinois their last time out. The Black and Gold won 4-3, picking up a second win against a Power 6 opponent this season. The match came down to court six where Mikhail Sokolovskiy won an intense three-set battle to give the Knights back to back victories.

FAU comes to Orlando with a record of 5-9 so far. They picked up victories against Florida A&M, ETSU, FGCU, South Alabama and Depaul. The Owls got a chance to play the nation's top team but wound up falling in a sweep to Florida. FAU fell to No. 31 Georgia in their last time out 6-1. The Owls' lone ranked singles player is Maxime Lapraille who sits at No. 114.

Stetson enters the weekend with a 7-3 record with victories against teams such as Troy, Georgia Southern, Florida Southern and Mercer. The Hatters lost a close contest against Georgia State their last time out, falling 4-3.

The FAU match will be UCF's first home match in over 40 days. Their last home match was their only to this point in the season, a 6-1 over Mercer to begin the year.
