Preview: Knights Return to Action Saturday at Tulsa

ORLANDO – The UCF men's basketball team concludes its final regular season road trip at Tulsa on Saturday. Tipoff between the Knights and the Golden Hurricane is set for 6 p.m. ET with coverage on ESPNU and FM 96.9 The Game.
 
The Knights (14-13, 5-10) have lost back-to-back games against Tulane and UConn but look to sweep the season series against the Golden Hurricane on Saturday.
 
Tulsa (19-9, 11-4) welcomes UCF to the Reynolds Center having won four of its last five games since losing to the Knights back on Feb. 9. The Golden Hurricane are tied for first in The American with just three games to play.
 
While UCF holds a 9-3 advantage over Tulsa in game played in Orlando, the Knights have never won at Tulsa in 10 games played. UCF aims to change that on Saturday.

SETTING THE SCENE                                                             

  • After starting the season 9-2, the UCF men's basketball team has gone just 5-10 during league play and holds an overall mark of 14-13 going into Saturday's contest at Tulsa. 
  • The Knights currently stand in a tie for ninth place in the league, but have wins over Cincinnati and Tulsa, two teams tied for first place in the conference
  • UCF aims to move up the league standings by sweeping Tulsa in the season series with a victory on Saturday.

 
TANGO WITH TULSA                                

  • UCF trails Tulsa 13-9 in the all-time series, which began way back on Dec. 19, 1981 when the Golden Hurricane won 69-58 in Oklahoma.
  • Since the two teams joined The American, Tulsa has won five out of eight games in the series.
  • The Knights have won three of the last four meetings, including an 83-75 win back on Feb. 9.
  • While UCF has had success in games against Tulsa played in Orlando, the Knights have never won in Tulsa in 10 games played.

 
LAST TIME AGAINST THE HURRICANE    

  • The Knights defeated Tulsa 83-75 at home on Feb. 9, one of just four conference losses this season for the Golden Hurricane.
  • UCF shot season highs from the field (55.6%) and from 3-point range (57.1%) to earn the victory.
  • The Knights outrebounded the Hurricane 32-25 and matched a season best with 12 made 3-pointers in the victory.
  • Darin Green Jr. led UCF with a career-high 26 points on 6-of-7 shooting from beyond the arc, while Ceasar DeJesus added 18 points and Dazon Ingram chipped in with 12.

 
GREEN GOES WILD                     

  • Darin Green Jr.'s 26 points against Tulsa were the most for any Knight this season and the most since Aubrey Dawkins went for 32 in the NCAA Tournament against Duke.
  • His six 3-pointers were also a team-high this season and the most since Dawkins knocked down six at Temple on March 9, 2019.
  • It was the highest scoring game for any UCF freshman since B.J. Taylor had 33 his freshman year against Tulane on Jan. 14, 2015.
  • Green is now third on the team in scoring with 9.5 points per game, ranks fifth in The American with 2.1 made threes per game and is fourth with a 39.7 percent mark from 3-point range.
  • Over the last nine games he is leading the Knights in scoring with 13.1 points per game and shooting 49.1 percent from beyond the arc.
  • During league play, Green ranks fourth with a 42.9 percent mark from 3-point range.
