Jada Cody Named Conference Player of the Week

ORLANDO (UCFKnights.com) – UCF Softball freshman standout Jada Cody has been named the conference Player of the Week, The American announced on Monday. The award marks the first in Cody's young career after she led the Knights' offense to a perfect, 4-0 weekend including two run rule victories over No. 12 Tennessee.

Batting in the heart of the order, Cody was a big part of UCF's 10-1 and 9-1 wins over No. 12 Tennessee this past weekend, turning in a multi-hit performance in each. In the first game on Friday, Cody went 2-for-3 with a momentous three-run home run in the third inning. She accounted for five of the Knights' 10 runs. In game two, Cody went 2-for-4 with one RBI and one run scored.

In two games against FIU over the weekend, Cody went 2-for-5 with two RBI, two walks and a pair of runs scored, helping the Knights to outscore the Panthers 11-3.

In total, Cody batted .500 over the weekend with one home run and six RBI to help UCF outscore opponents, 30-5.

Additionally, UCF pitcher Alea White has been named to the conference honor roll for. White shined in the circle over the weekend, tossing 12 combined innings, allowing just one run and striking out 15. In UCF's Friday win over No. 12 Tennessee, White earned the win as she threw a complete game, striking out five and allowing the Lady Vols to score just one run. White was named The American's Pitcher of the Week back in week one.

Following the weekend sweep, Cody now owns a .371 batting average, two home runs, 1.099 OPS and 10 RBI on the season. She has not struck out a single time all year. 

UCF heads up to Tallahassee on Wednesday to do battle with No. 9 FSU. The game will be broadcasted live on ACC Network Extra.
