ORLANDO – The UCF Softball team will look to continue its impressive start to the 2020 season as the Knights head to Tampa for a four-game weekend in the USF Invitational, taking place from Friday–Sunday.
The Knights will kick things off Friday afternoon with a 2:00 pm showdown against the No. 12 ranked Tennessee Lady Vols. UCF will then play two on Saturday, beginning with Tennessee at 9:00 am before facing FIU at 11:30 am. UCF will then conclude the weekend with a 9:00 am game against FIU.

The four-team USF Invitational tournament includes UCF, Tennessee, FIU and USF.

  • LAST TIME OUT  The Knights are coming off a weekend that saw them go 4-0 in the Knights Classic, outscoring opponents 29-6. In its last matchup of the weekend, UCF took down FAU 10-0 to defeat them by run rule. It was the fifth run rule victory of the season for the Knights, tying the number of wins by run rule over the last two seasons combined (two in 2019, three in 2018). Following the weekend sweep, UCF is off to a 9-2 start in 2020.
  • WHITE KEEPS CLIMBING In her last start, Alea White tossed 5.0 innings against the FAU Owls, allowing no runs on just two hits and striking out seven to earn the victory. The win marked White's 71st of her career, tying Allison Kime (2006-2008) for third most all-time at UCF. The all-time record is 80, set by Shelby Turnier (2013-2016).
  • HOT START  After sweeping the competition last weekend, UCF is off to a 9-2 start to the season, marking the second-best start to a season, trailing only the 10-1 start from the 2015 squad. After posting a 6-2 record against Power6 teams, the Knights are receiving votes in both the USA Today/NFCA and ESPN/USA Softball Top 25 polls.
  • TOUGH SLATE – As the Knights are set to take on the No. 12 Tennessee Lady Vols on Friday, it will already mark their second matchup with a top 15 ranked team in 2020 as they invited the No. 1 overall Washington Huskies to town on Feb. 12. After the weekend, UCF will head to Tallahassee to take on No. 9 Florida State and the remainder of the Knights' schedule includes matchups with five more Top 25 teams.
