ORLANDO, Fla. – The UCF men's tennis team sits at No. 24 in the latest release of the Oracle/ITA team rankings as they remain at their program best mark. The Knights were tabbed as the country's No. 24 team back on Feb. 5 which is when the team shattered the record of best ranking in program history. Additionally, UCF boasts one doubles tandem in the top 10 and two singles players in the top 60.
The Black and Gold haven't seen match action since Feb. 9 when they beat an Illinois team that was receiving votes 4-3 on the road. UCF will resume dual match play on Feb. 29 as they host FAU. The Knights earned 26.71 points in this week's rankings.
UCF's dynamic duo of Gabriel Decamps and Juan Pablo Grassi Mazzuchi sit at No. 7 in this week's release of the Oracle/ITA team rankings, the same as the last release back on Feb. 5. The tandem has gone 5-1 together thus far at the second lineup spot in doubles. The two have gone a total of 12-4 when including the fall tournament season. The pair has climbed as high as No. 6 in the doubles rankings. They've received a total of 44.58 ranking points as of this week's poll.
Decamps remains to lead the way in singles for the Knights and is proving that he belongs in the elite category of singles players. He checks in at No. 14 this week after climbing to a career best No. 7 two weeks ago. Decamps is 4-3 at the top spot in the lineup with three of those wins coming against ranked opponents. He earned a mark of 31.21 ranking points this week.
Grassi Mazzuchi climbs 13 spots in the singles rankings this week all the way up to No. 59. He's won his last three matches to get himself to a 4-3 record in the dual match season. Grassi Mazzuchi's last two wins have come over ranked opponents which earned him the conference's Player of the Week honors back on Feb. 11. He compiled 10.87 ranking points in this week's rankings, just 0.01 behind No. 58 and 0.03 behind No. 57.
Meanwhile, UCF as a team were tabbed as the nation's No. 20 team in the USTA College Tennis Top 25. The Knights were tied at No. 19 in last week's poll, their highest mark in the poll's four-year existence.
