ORLANDO, Fla. – After going a combined 4-0 this week across singles and doubles play, Evgeniya Levashova has been named the American Athletic Conference's Player of the Week for the second time this season.
Levashova played a big part in helping UCF sweep their weekend matches against TCU, UC Santa Barbara and Nebraska. She went 2-0 in doubles at the top spot in the lineup with Nadja Bay Christians. This weekend was the first time this season that the pair has seen action together. In UCF's match against TCU, the pair won with ease over Stevie Kennedy and Chloe Hule, posting a 6-2 result as the first court done. Sunday saw the duo beat Nebraska's top pair 6-4 as they clinched the doubles point for the Black and Gold.
Singles play saw Levashova continue to stay hot as she elevated her record to 6-0. She began the weekend with an unfinished match against TCU's top singles player where Levashova was leading 6-2, 4-0. Levashova made quick work of UC Santa Barbara's No. 1, Amit Lev-Ari, triumphing over her 6-4, 6-1. She went on to clinch the match against Nebraska at the No. 2 singles spot, beating Kristina Novak 6-4, 6-4.
Levashova has impressed since arriving in January. She has gone undefeated in singles and a 6-1 record in doubles with three different partners.
