Knights Receiving Votes in Major Polls

ORLANDO – As the UCF softball team wraps up two weekends of play to begin the 2020 season, the national recognition has begun as the Knights are receiving votes in both the USA Today/NFCA and the ESPN/USA Softball Top 25 polls.

The Knights were the 11th team out in the USA Today/NFCA Top 25 poll, which was announced on Tuesday, receiving two votes. It was the first time the Knights received votes in the poll since March 23, 2019. In the ESPN/USA Softball Top 25 poll, UCF was the ninth team out.

UCF was last ranked in the Top 25 in week 13 of the 2016 season, where the Knights finished 38-22 and made it to the NCAA regional tournament.

The highest ranking the Knights have ever received came in 2015, when they were pegged as the 13th best team in the nation in weeks 15 and 16. UCF would go on to post a 50-9 record that season, was crowned the American Athletic Conference regular season and tournament champion, and advanced to the NCAA regional tournament.

UCF's schedule also features seven squads that are currently ranked in the USA Today/NFCA Top 25 poll, including No. 12 Tennessee, who the Knights will take on Friday and Saturday in the USF Tournament in Tampa, Fla.

UP NEXT
The Knights will take the bus down I-4 as they head to Tampa, Fla. next weekend to play in the USF Tournament. UCF will play two games against No. 12 ranked Tennessee before playing two against FIU.
