CLEMSON, S.C. (UCFKnights.com) – The UCF track and field closed out the Tiger Paw Invitational with seven personal-best performances and a season-best relay showing on Saturday at the Clemson Indoor Track.
"I was pleased with a lot of things that happened this weekend," UCF head coach Dana Boone said. "We lined up against some of the best in the country and we still had people getting better. Now it's time to fine-tune and gear up for conference. I'm looking forward to seeing this team compete in two weeks."
A trio of Knights posted personal bests in the 800-meter run, led by Charlotte Crook's 2:10.99 mark that moved her up to fifth on UCF's indoor performers list. Her time is also the fourth-best in the American Athletic Conference this season.
UCF's 4x4 squad of Samieryah Bradwell, Latasha Smith, Beyonce Defreitas and Loren Gallmon posted a season-best time of 3:40.73 to finish 15th overall. The mark, which ranks eighth on UCF's all-time indoor performers list, is the second-fastest 4x4 time in The American this season.
Kaliah Jones cleared 5-4.25/1.63m to set a new personal best in the high jump. The rookie jumped onto UCF's top 10 performers list with the ninth-best indoor height.
Ciara Holback led UCF's 200-meter dash performers with a top 20 finish. A trio of Knights posted personal best marks in the event as Latasha Smith (24.26), Rayniah Jones (24.84) and Ani Wells (24.90) all improved their times on Saturday.
UCF will take a break from action before heading to Birmingham, Ala., for The American Indoor Championship Feb. 28-29.
