UCF Returns to Clemson

Opens in a new window Meet Central

ORLANDO (UCFKnights.com) – The UCF track and field team returns to Clemson for the Tiger Paw Invitational, beginning Friday.

The Knights return to the Clemson Indoor Track for their final two-day indoor meet before heading to the American Athletic Conference Indoor Championship. UCF begins the weekend with the 60-meter dash, weight throw and long jump at noon on Friday. Saturday action opens with the high jump at 11 a.m. and the 800-meter run at noon.

For the first time this season, the Black and Gold will compete on back-to-back weekends. Last Saturday, UCF headed to College Station for the Charlie Thomas Invitational. On the track, at least one Knight in every event posted a personal best.

Ciara Holback captured the 60-meter dash title with a personal best time of 7.34. The Jacksonville native jumped to third on the American Athletic Conference performance list and ranks 23rd nationally in the event.

A trio of Knights moved into the top 15 on The American performance list in the 200-meter dash with personal or season-best performances at the Charlie Thomas Invitational. Loren Gallmon and Imani Clark are now tied for sixth in the event with matching 23.98 marks, while Beyonce Defreitas ranks 11th with a time of 24.27.

Kiara Lee landed at 40-feet, 2-inches (12.24m) on her second trip down the runway in the triple jump. Not only was the mark a collegiate personal best for the Madison, Wisc., native, she also matched the freshman triple jump record, set by LaTrica Firby in 2000. Her mark ranks seventh on the league's performance list.

Rayniah Jones jumped to third on The American performance list with a personal-best performance in the 60-meter hurdles. Her 8.43 mark is the best time by a freshman in the league this season, and she has improved her time in the event at every meet this season.
