ORLANDO, Fla. – Heading into the 2020 campaign, the UCF baseball team will have a trio of catchers that will shoulder the majority of the workload behind the dish.
FAMILIAR NAMES
#40 // Ben McCabe // So.
As a freshman at UCF, McCabe split time between catcher with 19 starts and designated hitter with eight starts. The Sarasota, Fla. native topped all rookies with a .271 clip while driving in 17 RBI and walked nine times. McCabe has also spent time getting work in the infield and outfield throughout the offseason.
FRESH FACES
#7 // Jakob Runnels // Fr.
Prior to stepping onto the UCF campus, Jakob Runnels was a four-year letter winner in baseball and two-year letter winner in football at Auburndale High School. His senior season he slugged eight homers while maintaining a .510 batting average and collected 31 RBI.
#44 // Josh Crouch // Jr.
Junior college transfer Josh Crouch will look make an impact at the catcher position, bringing the most collegiate experience behind the plate to the Knights. Crouch arrived at UCF after two seasons at State College of Florida. Over the course of his career with SCF, Crouch slashed a .290 batting average in 101 games while driving in 65 RBI and hitting 12 home runs.
