ORLANDO, Fla. – The UCF women's tennis team checks in at No. 15 in this week's Oracle/ITA rankings after splitting their weekend matches during ITA Kickoff Weekend.
The Knights began ITA Kickoff Weekend with a win against Utah. UCF went on to face then No. 15 Michigan and fell by a count of 4-2.
The Black and Gold began the season ranked at No. 13 in the Oracle/ITA poll before climbing one spot the following week. No. 12 was the highest UCF has ever climbed in the poll, and with a good weekend could see their ranking climb even higher than that.
Marie Mattel had a stellar weekend in singles play, posting a 2-0 mark at the No. 3 position. She picked up the match clincher on Saturday over Utah after being down set and break.
The Knights have three singles players ranked as well as two doubles tandems. No. 3 Rebeka Stolmar and Mattel lead the way in doubles while Stolmar sits at No. 34 in singles play. New singles and doubles rankings will debut on Feb. 5.
UP NEXT
The Knights will return home for a pair of ranked matchups. They'll host No. 9 FSU on Friday at 5 p.m. and No. 18 Texas A&M on Sunday at noon.
