UCF Spirit Ready for Nationals

ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) – The UCF cheer and dance teams have been hard at work preparing for the UCA & UDA College Cheerleading and Dance Team National Championships that start Friday, January 17 at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex.

On Friday, the Knights will host visiting teams at The Venue from 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. The teams hope this practice gets the "game-time jitters" and nerves out of the way in front of their family and friends so that the team is ready to hit a solid routine on the big stage.

The Black and Gold cheer squad will take the floor in the Gameday Semifinals at The Pavilion at 2:30 p.m. on Friday, with top teams advancing to the final round that begins at 8:00 p.m. Friday night.

UCF cheer will be competing in the Division IA Semifinals at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 18, with the final round being set for Sunday at 7:00 p.m. The KnightMoves Dance Team will be competing in the Division IA Jazz semifinals at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday and with advancing teams competing in the finals at 9:00 a.m. on Sunday.

A year ago, the UCF cheer squad took home the title in the Gameday Nationals Competition. The Knights have placed in the Top 10 of the College Cheerleading National Championships 24 times in the last 26 years under Gooch, including national titles in 2003 and 2007.

A year ago, the KnightMoves dance team competed in the jazz semifinals, finishing Top 20 but were unable to advance to the final round.
