NCAA Championship runs by UCF teams in men's soccer and women's volleyball positioned the Knights to tie for 40th place in the most recent sports standings released in the 2019-20 Learfield IMG Sports Division I College Directors' Cup all-sports competition sponsored by the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics.
Fall NCAA competition to date has earned UCF 114 points—64 from a round of 16 appearance in the NCAA Men's Soccer Championship and 50 from a second-round appearance in the NCAA Women's Volleyball Championship.
Still to come are at least 45 more fall points from UCF's Gasparilla Bowl football victory over Marshall. That football point total increases if the Knights finish in the final coaches' poll.
Among American Athletic Conference programs in 2019-20, UCF ranks second, behind only Tulsa (34th with 124 points).
The Knights currently rank ahead of 27 programs from Power 5 conferences—including seven each from the Big 12 Conference, Big Ten Conference and Southeastern Conference—plus three each from the Atlantic Coast Conference and Pacific-12 Conference.
The final fall standings will be released Jan. 16
UCF's current standing comes on the heels of its 2018-19 performance in which for the first time the Knights scored points in nine sports. UCF is the only FBS program in the country that had each of its sports produce winning records (among the 10 Knights sports with win-loss records) in both 2017-18 and 2018-19—and UCF teams in football, men's and women's soccer and women's volleyball all added to that streak in the fall of 2019.
The current NACDA Cup standings include results from NCAA fall competition in men's water polo, women's field hockey, men's and women's soccer, women's volleyball, along with men's and women's cross country.
The last 10 years of UCF Directors' Cup finishes include 90th in 2008-09, 106th in 2009-10, 63rd in 2010-11, 55th in 2011-12, 67th in 2012-13, 95th in 2013-14, 86th in 2014-15, 149th in 2015-16, 97th in 2016-17, 86th in 2017-18 and 62nd in 2018-19.
