UCF Falls At Cincinnati

CINCINNATI, Ohio (UCFKnights.com) – The UCF women's basketball team dropped an 81-64 decision to Cincinnati in Fifth Third Arena on Sunday afternoon.
 
UCF (9-5, 1-1 The American) saw its five-game win streak come to an end as the Bearcats (11-5, 2-1 The American) won their second straight contest.
 
The Knights were unable to get going early, as Cincinnati led by as many as 11 points in the first quarter. The Black and Gold responded in the opening minutes of the second quarter to pull within six, but the home team pushed its advantage back to double figures heading into the locker room. Cincinnati kept its double-digit lead throughout the second half.
 
The Knights shot 53.2 percent from the floor, just behind Cincinnati's 53.3 field goal percentage. In an reversal of its usual role, UCF committed 20 turnovers, which led to 25 points for the Bearcats.
 
Kay Kay Wright led the Knights with 16 points to go along with three assists and a trio of steals. Despite playing just two minutes in the first half due to early foul trouble, Brittney Smith responded in the second half, finishing the game with 14 points, five rebounds and two blocks in 19 minutes of action. She has now scored in double figures in six straight games.
 
Diamond Battles matched her career high with 11 points, dished out a team-leading eight assists and had a team-high four steals. Masseny Kaba collected a team-high seven rebounds, including four offensive boards.
