ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) – Bringing in the first accolades of the 2020 slate, junior outfielder Dalton Wingo was named to the American Athletic Conference Preseason All-Conference Team.
Wingo is one of three Knights to start and play in all 58 games a season ago. The Plant City, Fla. native set a career-high in nearly every offensive stat category in 2019. The outfielder hit .294 with a .373 on-base percentage and drove in 44 RBI with seven homers on the year. The rising junior totaled 21 multi-hit games, which was the second-most on the team, and recorded nine multi-RBI outings including a three-home run, six RBI performance at Florida Atlantic.
The American preseason poll was also released on Monday, the Knights were picked fifth with 37 points after going 36-22 in 2019. East Carolina topped the charts with six first-place votes after a trip to an NCAA Super Regional in 2019, and Houston snagged three first-place votes to take second.
The Knights open the 2020 campaign with four games in three days against Siena at John Euliano Park, beginning on February 14 at 6 p.m.
