ORLANDO (UCFKnights.com) – Four Knights reached double figures and the UCF women's basketball posted a season-high in an 80-58 win over Quinnipiac on Tuesday evening in Addition Financial Arena.
UCF (5-4) outscored the Bobcats (1-6) in every quarter and split their offensive output evenly with 40 points in each half.
Diamond Battles opened the night with a tough take to the basket, and UCF led by as many as four in the first quarter before taking a 16-14 edge into the second frame. The Knights pushed out to a 12-point advantage, 35-23, on a three-pointer from Georgia Gayle in the second quarter and took a 40-29 lead into the locker rooms.
UCF started the third quarter on an 8-0 run to take a 48-29 advantage on a fastbreak layup from Courtajia Sanders. Brittney Smith put the lead at 20 points on a free throw late in the frame and UCF led 60-43 heading into the fourth quarter.
Quinnipiac put a scoring run together to pull within 15 points in the early part of the final 10 minutes, but Smith, Battles and Gayle scored the next nine points to put the game out of reach.
The Knights hit a season-best 29 shots and made a season-high 20 free throws. The Black and Gold held the rebounding edge, 43-29, and scored 22 second chance points off 20 offensive rebounds. UCF also took care of the ball, with a season-low 11 turnovers.
Brittney Smith had a career game, tallying 18 points on 6-of-7 shooting from both the floor and the free throw line. The sophomore tallied her second career double-double – and her second of the season – with 10 rebounds, including eight offensive boards.
Kay Kay Wright added 16 points, shooting 50 percent from the floor and was a perfect 4-for-4 from the free throw line. Masseny Kaba scored 13 points and tied her career-best with a game-high three blocks. Courtajia Sanders chipped in a season-best 12 points.

The Knights host the UCF Holiday Tournament Dec. 20-21 in Addition Financial Arena. UCF opens against St. Mary's at 2:30 p.m. on Friday and face Wright State at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. St. Bonaventure will also compete in the two-day tournament.
