UCF Volleyball Heads to Gainesville for NCAA Tournament

Opens in a new window Full NCAA Bracket

ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) – The NCAA Division I Women's Volleyball committee announced the 64-team field that will compete in the 2019 NCAA Division I Women's Volleyball Championship. Thirty-two conferences were awarded an automatic qualification, while the remaining 32 positions were filled with at-large selections to complete the bracket. As the winners of the American Athletic Conference, the Knights secured an automatic bid and will head to Gainesville, Fla. to take on the Florida State Seminoles (19-9, 9-3).

UCF will face Florida State Thursday at 4:30 p.m. in Gainesville. On the other side of the bracket, Florida will take on Alabama State. The winners of the two matches will meet at 7 p.m. on Friday. To view the full, 64-team bracket, click here.

"I think they are going to go up to Florida, and I think they are going to be a relaxed team," UCF Volleyball Head Coach Todd Dagenais said. "They're going to go out there and put their best foot forward."

Last week, the Knights moved to No. 22 in the RPI and are back to receiving votes in the American Volleyball Coaches Association Coaches Poll.

After claiming the conference title two weekends ago, the Black and Gold have secured back-to-back appearances in the NCAA tournament for the first time since 2002-03. It is the third time in program history that the Knights have made consecutive NCAA tournament appearances and the first time under Todd Dagenais.

With the conference title victory, Dagenais amassed 236 career wins to tie Lucy McDaniel as the winningest head coach in UCF Volleyball program history.

The Knights have posted a 24-7 overall record to this point in 2019 and, after reaching a season-high 10 match winning streak in early November, they are back to having won five straight matches.
