Two Knights Named to Academic All-District Team

CoSIDA Academic All-District Men’s Soccer Team

ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) – Senior Cal Jennings and Sophomore Andres Hernandez Betancur have been recognized for their accomplishments on and off the pitch as they have been named to the 2019 Academic All-District First Team presented by CoSIDA.

Hernandez earned a 3.96 GPA in his time at UCF thus far, the highest mark on the team. He was on the President's List at UCF for the spring and fall of 2018 and made the Dean's List in the spring of 2019. Hernandez is currently majoring Integrated Business.

On the pitch, Hernandez was named to the All-Rookie team in 2018-19. He scored a goal and registered an assist in 16 matches last season. Ironically, his on-field stats are the same this season as they were in his rookie campaign.

Jennings has done a lot in his last two seasons with UCF. In the classroom, he has earned a 3.70 GPA in his time at UCF and was named to the Dean's List in both semesters of the 2018-19 academic calendar. The two Dean's List nods from that year bring his total to six in his time at UCF. He is a four-year AAC Academic All-American and earned a spot on the President's Honor Roll in the spring of 2018. His efforts in the classroom will allow him to graduate a semester early. He will leave UCF with a major in Nonprofit Management and a minor in Sports Business Management.

Nearly everyone knows about Jennings' success on the pitch. He has posted 33 goals over the last two seasons, with 13 of them coming this year. He has tallied 30 points in his senior campaign and has helped the Knights position themselves as contenders heading into the postseason.

Jennings and Hernandez are two of 13 student-athletes named to the District 4 NCAA Division I first team, which covers the southeast United States. The district nod means that Jennings and Hernandez are eligible to be part of the Academic All-American Team presented by CoSIDA.
