ORLANDO (UCFKnights.com) - The UCF cross country team is set to compete at the 2019 American Athletic Conference Championship on Friday in Memphis.
The 6k race will start at 11:50 a.m. ET and will be streamed on the American Digital Network.
At the FSU Invitational, both Charlotte Crook and Jamie Tomassetti finished in the top 20. Crook finished 18th, while Tomassetti posted a personal-best time of 18:17.6 to finish 19th.
Kaitlyn Soltis also set her personal-best in the FSU Invitational with a time of 18:27.0 to continue her strong junior campaign.
Tomassetti, Vanessa Bolen, Jewel Walters and Haley Riorden are set for their conference championship debuts. Bolen is coming off her personal-best time of 19:47.2 at FSU. Walters made her 6k debut in the UCF Invitational and finished with a time of 24:22.5. Riorden makes her way back into the lineup after appearing in the season opener at FAU.
The Knights enter Friday's race with a 6K race already under their belts. On Sept. 27, the Black and Gold not only hosted the UCF Invite; the Knights also took home the top honors on their home course.
Friday's race also serves as the War on I-4 meet between the Knights and South Florida. UCF currently holds a 9-0 lead in the overall rivalry series after victories in volleyball and men's soccer. Between cross country, women's soccer and volleyball, 15 more points are up for grabs this weekend.
